Young Adventurers Day Campers swim, ride horses, kayak, play games, shoot rifles, bow and arrows, and discover nature, in a program that has Marianist Catholic values, spirit, and community woven throughout. This program is great for area youth who enjoy the outdoors by day but are not quite ready for the overnight facet of Camp. Day Campers celebrate the Eucharist twice during the week and participate in Morning Prayer on other days.
Campers are divided into co-ed age groups. The program grows a child’s skills from year to year, based on his or her developmental level.
Young Adventurers Day Camp for Boys and Girls starts at Tecaboca each morning at 8:45 a.m., or between 7:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m (depending on location) with pickup in Kerrville, Ingram, Harper, or Fredericksburg for a ride to camp. Camp ends at 4:00 p.m. for onsite pickup, or by meeting a ride in Kerrville, Ingram, Harper, or Fredericksburg at designated times between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m.
Day Campers start their day raising the flag, and then are off to activities! Each group enjoys each activity at least twice during the week. Fishing, swimming, arts and crafts, riflery, archery, kayaking, and horseback riding are the activities each camper group participates in.
During the week there are many fun all-camp activities such as Cowboy Cookout, song time, and large field games.
Parents will see their children arrive home each day a little exhausted and a little dirty from an active day. They will also notice a can-do attitude, a concern for others, and a desire to make a faith filled difference in their world.
