Many people can pinpoint that moment at Tecaboca when God's Voice was clear, they found a lifetime friend, or met that important Marianist Brother who gave them sage advice.
The Marianists began offering Boys Camp in 1937 in the Comfort, Texas area. In 1951 the property on Johnson Creek was purchased and so began more camps, more campers, and eventually many retreats and school programs. It has been a wonderful, and sometimes challenging history, and it is time to celebrate it all!
We thank everyone who gathered to celebrate Tecaboca! Through the virtual FUNDRUN on October 15 many people participated online. Also on October 15, the UNDER THE STARS GALA in San Antonio was a resounding success. And over 200 people attended the FAMILY FUNDAY at Tecaboca on October 16. The FUNDAY began with an outdoor Mass presided by The Most Rev. Gustavo Garcia-Siller, MSpS, Archbishop of San Antonio, and concelebrated with The Very Rev. Oscar Vasquez, S.M. Provincial of the Marianist Province of the United States.

The Pandemic Years have been very difficult. Like most retreat centers and summer camps, business is still not "as usual" and it takes a lot of effort to grow again. Tecaboca will remain open with the support of all - campers, families, retreatants, parishes, groups, campus ministries, pastoral ministries, ordained and lay ministers. Together, we are called to witness and foster the 'Gospel of Creation' lived out at our beautiful premises in the Hill Country. There are concrete ways to support Tecaboca for years to come:
Pray - As anything we do, start with prayer. When you offer up your sacrifices for the benefit of all people who come to Tecaboca, you are uniting your own intentions to the suffering of Christ in the Cross. Let us know whenever you have remembered Tecaboca when praying the Rosary, offered a Mass, or shared these prayer intentions with others. Together we are part of the larger spiritual communion of the Church and as such we support one another with our personal, communal, and liturgical prayers.
Give - Same as we do at our parishes, at Tecaboca you are able to offer of your time, talent and treasure for the common good. Volunteers sign up to assist with caring for the extensive grounds, hosting retreat groups, cooking meals, and many other tasks throughout the year. Many have joined the growing list of monthly and annual giving to increase the financial sustenance of Tecaboca - please know that your gift is important to advance Tecaboca's mission and service to the People of God.
Invite - We are called to invite others to join the mission of Tecaboca to the best capacity of their means. This person to person dynamic is also enhanced when groups, institutions, movements, and faith communities share extensively about their fruitful experiences at Tecaboca. Invite your acquaintances to put their faith in action through volunteering, giving and praying together to project the important mission and service of Tecaboca, from the Hill Country to all Church and society.
